Nobbys Lighthouse Wedding
Rhapsody of the Seas Passengers tie the knot at Nobbys Lighthouse
Thursday, 8 December 2011
A couple who cruised into Newcastle Harbour aboard luxury passenger ship ‘Rhapsody of the Seas’ on Wednesday, 7th December chose to marry at the city’s iconic Nobbys Lighthouse during an 11am ceremony.
Chris Giffiths and Susan Nerlich, originally from Newcastle and now residing in Hove, South Australia chose to return to their home town to make their vows. The couple flew into Sydney yesterday and boarded the cruise ship which then made its way to Newcastle during the night.
Newcastle L!vesites, which currently site manages Nobbys Lighthouse on behalf of the Department of Crown Lands, transported the couple in a 1967 Ford Mustang Coupe from the ship to the lighthouse grounds.
Although most of us saw continuous rain throughout the day, the rain stopped just in time for the ceremony enabling the couple to stand outdoors agaist a backdrop of Newcastle Harbour and the 'Rhapsody of the Seas' luxury liner.
A crowd of 20 close friends and relatives witnessed the union before making their way to the Brewery for a reception.
